
Kristen Ferrara, M.A. CCC-SLP
Kristen is a New York State licensed and American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certified Speech-Language Pathologist. She also holds a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certificate in New York State. Kristen earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University and her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Hofstra University. Kristen currently works in the school setting and has over 8 years of experience providing school-based intervention for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in pre-k through 5th grade. She also has experience working with children ages birth-3 in home-based settings.
Kristen has completed Level 1 PROMPT training and specialized training in Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC). She is trained in Recipe for Reading and Structured-Based Literacy Interventions to improve phonological awareness, reading, and writing skills. She is currently completing the Natural Language Acquisition training from the Meaningful Speech coursework to support gestalt language processors.
Her areas of expertise include early language development, expressive and receptive language delays/disorders, articulation and phonological disorders, motor speech disorders, literacy skill development, reading and writing disorders, and social pragmatic disorders. She has worked with a variety of diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, and learning differences.
Kristen believes in creating a fun, supportive, and meaningful therapy environment where each child feels safe and motivated to grow, while collaborating closely with families. Kristen is committed to building trusting and positive relationships with her clients.
