Alex earned her Bachelor's of Science degree at Penn State University in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She continued to pursue a Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology at Penn State University as well. Alex's passion for speech therapy began at a young age when her younger brother was diagnosed with autism, she had the ability to observe the positive impact that speech services had on his communication. Prior to her graduate studies, she worked at a summer camp supporting both children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She also held a role as a direct support professional, aiding adults with autism in social skill development to enhance the goal of improving daily functioning. During her graduate studies she conducted research on the decision-making processes for parents/caregivers and their young adult children with autism during their transition to adulthood. Alex presented her research findings at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association convention.
Alex's clinical experience spans from birth through adulthood, using evidence-based interventions for speech delays, articulation, phonological, expressive/receptive language, and fluency disorders. Alex's approach centers on building authentic connections with each patient, recognizing that strong rapport forms the foundation for meaningful communication. She believes in collaborative care through communication, ensuring families are informed about progress and equipped to support their child's communication development. She is excited to continue learning about Gestalt Language Processing and earning her PROMPT, Wilson, and Meaningful Speech certifications in the near future. Alex is committed to empowering both patients and their support systems to create lasting effects in daily life, relationships, and future opportunities.
